Scuba Diving

Mom and I just finished reqading ya'll's blogs. What a neat family and such cute kids. We love you all. Tyler and I went Scuba Diving last Thursday at Sea Base. Sea Base is located about 35 miles west of Salt Lake City near Grantsville. It is a series of ponds filled by warm spring water. (temp about 80 in summer and a little lower in winter) The spring comes up through the old Lake Bonneville bed and thus picks up salt from the strata. It has about the same salinity as the ocean. We were able to feed the fish lettuce. We would hold the head of lettuce in our hand and the fish would swim right up to us and take bites of the lettuce. It was so awesome. There were some really big beautiful fish there. There are two sharks there also but they were hiding when we were there so we didn't get to see them. They are about 9 feet long. It was an awsome day. Thanks Tyler.

Well two games down and we are at 50%, but I think the team will do very well. Hall was great. I am looking forward to the next game.

Love you lots!!!

MOm's 8 secrets

1. In the third grade I was standing behind a classmate after recess waiting to go into the building. I must have been mad that she was in front of me but for whatever reason I reached down and grabbed her ankles and picked her up. Her forehead landed on the edge of the step in front of us. She bled like crazy. I remember going in to the principal's office. Then Mother came and brought me home. I don't remember my punishment but it must have been fierce. I went to high school with her and at a reunion I remember staring at her forehead. It had healed quite nicely. I reminded her of what I'd done and she didn't remember it was me.

2. I started dating at 12 and had my first kiss at 12. His name was Mike Smith. This was in Bozeman, Montana. (To my grandchildren reading this - those were different times and besides I always had to take my little sister, Judie, with me. The rule now is 16 and don't you forget it!!!!!!!!

3. I wrote the script to a road show for the MIA kids when I was in Belgium. It was about Freddie the Ferocious Dragon. The three girls were frightened maidens from the castle. Then two missionaries came along and converted him to the gospel and they all remained fast friends.
I got costumes from and old attic that stored costumes for the city. WE perfformed it that Youth Conference in a Swiss Army Camp in Switzerland.

4. When I was going to BYU I used to spend two hours every day in the music practice room in what is now the north end of the Provo Library. I would sing and accompany myself singing mostly opera and other classical music. I miss it and I'm sad that is not a part of my life now.

5. In 7th grade I tried out for the school chorus and was turned down. I was disappointed but I promised myself that someday Miss Bonelli would be sorry. Well a little dramatic but it did make me more proactive. In high school I took lessons from the school choral director and I made into the top chorus and then was chosen to be in theSWeet Sixteen where we sang for various city and other functions.

6. I was a Thespian in High School and was in numerous plays (

7. During my Senior year I was in charge of a statewide Thespian convention and workshop.

8. My favorite scripture is in the Book of Mormon - And I was encircled about eternally in His arms. Ths was Alma talking to his sons before he died. It is such a comforting concept to know that we are in His arms and he will protect us as long as we remain with him.

OK, LORI, YOU'RE TAGGED. I CAN'T WAIT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOU!!!!

8 things you probably didn't know about me

Tina tagged me so I guess it is my turn. Here goes;

1. Skinny dipping-When I was on the farm we would love to end a hot, dusty hay hauling day by a quick dip in the cool water of the local river. Of course we didn't bother wearing swimming suits as we were miles from civilization. On evening we were swimming when 2 fishermen came fishing down the river. The stopped and chatted with us and then went one with their fishing, only so close that we couldn't get out of the river without them seeing us. It may not have been so bad except one of the fishers was a woman. It kept getting later and colder as the set set behind the mountain and the fishers kept on fishing close by. Finally they went around the bend and we made a break for it and got our clothes on and went home. My oh my there is nothing like skinny dipping at the end of a hot dusty day. Now I just skinny dip in the shower.

2. I spent a night in a homeless shelter.

3. I have had a permanent.

4. I was in a car accident (the fault of a slick road) two days after I got my driving license. We had been to Kamas to Stake Conference and were going home with some friends. Alton was supposed to drive but I finagled the keys away from him and drove. I hit an icy patch on the road and slid off the road into a telephone pole. I guess that is what I get for not obeying instructions from Mom.

5 I never sluffed a day of School. (pay attention Jeremy)

6. Someimes when I would go and get the cows, (they would come in from the pasture to the gate of the lane and I had to go open the gate and bring them back to the barn. (about a city block in length) I often would jump on a cow and ride her home. She didn't like it too much and would try to dislodge me with her head but to no avail.

7. I loved to dance. There were dances sponsored by the church on Sat. and during the school year dances after the basketball games on Friday and other dances during the year. I seldom missed a dance.

8. I once asked my classmates mother to go on a date to the dance with me. My classmates name was Martha and so when I called I asked for Martha. She answered the phone and there was a long pause and my heart just sank, then she said, "Oh you must mean "little Martha". Martha's mother was named Martha also. The worst problem was that (unbeknowest to me) Alton was listening from the other room and he got the drift of what happened and of course told everyone. One of me neighbors kept asking me if I was taking any more mothers to the dance. How embarassing.

Well I guess that completes my list. I tag DeAnn

Mom's few cents worth

Just a note from the Matriarch of the family Life is so good, We have been truly blessed - all of us. We have the best four sons in the world; the best four daughters-in-law ( I waited a long time to have a daughter and the Lord really blessed me) and the very best grandchildren. I'm so glad we'll all be together in the eternities. Sooner than that really -- Brandon and Tina we're counting on you. God bless you all!

We really had fun the past few days with all of our family being here in Orem. It was great. We really love you all. It seems so quiet now.

Yesterday we went to see "Harry Potter" with Tyler, Michelle, Marissa and the Miller family. It was such fun. The movie was great. I usually wait to see a new movie until the crowd dies down but it was fun to get to see it so soon after it opened.

Last Monday we sent to the graves of our parents. We had a hard time finding an eating place for us. I wanted to go to the Chicken Inn so that is what we planned to do. We got a late start (surprise anyone) so stopped by McDonalds so the kids wouldn't starve before we got to Wanship. We then went to the Orem Cemetary, passing the Dairy Keen in Heber to go to Peoa and then on the Wanship. Well it was Monday, and the Chicken Inn was closed on Monday so that didn't work out. We decided to go to the Discount Mall and find a place to eat there. We say a sign for JB's and thought that would hit the spot and drove there only to find it had been closed permanently. There weren't other places that we agreed on in the discount mall so we debated on going to SLC or back to Park City but since the kids were hungry we decided to go back to Park City. As luck would have it they were doing construction on the road so we were slowed a lot (and probably could have made it to SLC by the time it took to get to Park City) but finally found a cafe that looked promising. We parfked the car and went in only to be informed by the waiter that they closed between 3-5 for a change of menues between lunch and dinner (it was 3:05). We then had to find another place to eat. Since everyone was hungry by now we went back to a place we saw on the way in called Squatters. A cafe called Mt. Air Cafe used to be at the same location and we had eaten there in the past so we decided to give it a try. When we entere we discovered it was a brewery/restaurant, serving all different kinds of beer along with many varieties of vegeterian, vegan and traditional foods. We decided to order only to be informed that they were between their lunch and dinner menues and we would have to wait for 15 minutes. You would think we wanted to order some escotic food that would take special talent to make. We weren't vegan, nor vegetarian, we just wante Hamburgers!!! We settled in and ordered. It was good food.

We finally have gotten broadband service. I had not idea how much that would improve our computer.

Love you lots.

Dad

I realize this has been a long and rambly post but perhaps it will make up for all of the time we haven't posted anything.

Thanksgiving Point

We had a fun day yesterday. Mom and I along with Kevin went to Thanksgiving Point to see the Tulips. Although we saw lots of beautiful tulips, we spent most of the time at the Childrens Discovery part of the park. Keven had so much fun. As soon as we got into the car Kevin was so exhausted that he fell asleep.

Jeremy, Plonnie and Kyle met us at home and we all decided to go see "Oliver" at the Scera. We all enjoyed it very much. Kevin kept singing "Food Glorious Food" all the way home.

Love you lots..

Dad

Thought of the day.

It is all worth it.
